Pre-heat oven to 350°F.
In a medium saucepan, over low to medium heat, melt butter; set aside and allow to cool for 5 minutes.
Add sugar, flour, eggs, vanilla, pecans and bourbon.
When mixture is no longer warm, from butter being in microwave, add chocolate chips; adding the chips too early will cause them to melt and the pie will not turn out right.
Pour into an unbaked pie shell.
Bake for about 40 – 45 minutes, until toothpick, inserted in the center, comes out clean.
Check on pie; cover the crust, or top of pie, with foil to prevent over baking crust.
