Bob’s Information

I am a native Canadian (Deer Lake, Newfoundland) who immigrated to the USA in 1970. My educational background includes an undergraduate degree in Finance (University of Central Oklahoma) and a Masters Degree in Business Administration (Webster University). Shortly after arriving in Orlando, Florida, I began a career in the traditional retail banking industry. In 1993, I changed focus and spent the remainder of my days in the workplace as a Project Management Director with global financial services companies. In December of 2017, I was ready and delighted to leave the workforce and move on to the next chapter in my life – retirement.

Bob Laing, 2020

It was through the suggestion of my two daughters, Stephanie and Tricia, that a cookbook entitled The Complete Comfort Foods Cookbook – an Heirloom of Recipes and Photos was published in 2011. They wanted me to commit all of their favorite recipes (previously housed in a shoe box) to writing so they could prepare and enjoy the same dishes for years to come. What started as a simple compilation of their favorite recipes, into a simple book, developed into a cookbook available for purchase at all major booksellers and Amazon.com.

I cannot claim formal culinary training nor take credit for origination of recipes published on this website; however, I do love to cook and, over the years, have added hundreds of great recipes to my database. With this blog, I will upload, on a weekly basis, recipes you might find interesting enough to make for you, your family and friends. Please come back and visit often, try the recipes and use the following link to email your comments, recommendations, and/or critiques. Your feedback is important and very much welcomed.
