Pre-heat oven to 350°F.
Place a single layer of Oreo cookies in the bottom of a 13 x 9-inch baking pan.
Pour a 14-ounce can of sweetened condensed milk on top of the cookies.
Spread on 8 ounces of Cool Whip, covering the entire surface.
Sprinkle on 1 box of chocolate fudge cake mix; resist the urge to mix it in.
Thinly slice 1-1/12 sticks of butter and layer the slices on top of the cake mix.
Bake in pre-heated oven for 45 minutes.
Once fully baked, remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips on top of the cake.
Use a large spoon to scoop out servings.
