Pre-heat oven to 350ºF.
Place the slices of bacon in a cast iron skillet; lay out fanned to form a circle.
The ends of the slices overhang the skillet edge; its inner surface is completely covered with bacon.
Wash and cut the potatoes into thin slices; place on top of the bacon; salt and pepper.
Cover the potatoes with the grated cheddar cheese.
Repeat the potato and cheese applications twice more, using fewer potatoes slices to create the pyramid shape.
Conclude the work of art by bringing the overhanging bacon over the top of the cheese covered potatoes.
Bake for 2 ½ hours.
