Sausage and Ranch Quiche

Ingredients
  

  • 1 9-inch Pillsbury refrigerated pie crust
  • 8-oz. sausage
  • 1/2 cup Ranch salad dressing and seasoning mix
  • ½ cup shredded cheese
  • 1 cup heavy cream or milk
  • 3 eggs
  • Dash black pepper

Instructions
 

  • Pre-heat oven to 350ºF.
  • Place pie crust in an appropriate round baking dish.
  • In a skillet, cook sausage until no longer pink; drain fat.
  • In a medium bowl, combine cooked sausage and dry Ranch dressing and seasoning mix.
  • Drop crumbles of sausage mixture in bottom of pie crust.
  • Top with shredded cheddar cheese.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together eggs, pepper and cream.
  • Pour egg mixture over sausage and cheese mixture in pie crust.
  • Place in oven and bake for 1 hour.
  • Remove from oven; allow quiche to rest for 5 – 10 minutes before serving.

I’ve had quiche so many times in restaurants but never prepared it myself. I followed directions exactly as shown in recipe and give it four stars! The ranch dressing gave it a unique taste that I liked. I’m thinking that the one cup of milk preparing ranch plus the additional one cup of heavy cream may have been just a little too much as it somewhat overflowed the porcelain dish I used. Or maybe I should use a deeper dish next time:-)
