Spicy Caramelized Green Beans

Ingredients
  

  • 2-pounds fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 2 medium red bell peppers, sliced into strips
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 2 tsp. olive oil
  • 4 tbsp. brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp. soy sauce
  • 1 tsp. dried crushed red pepper
  • 1 ½ tsp. house seasoning or seasoned salt

Instructions
 

  • In a medium saucepan, fill half full with ice and water; set aside.
  • In another medium saucepan, bring salted water to a boil.
  • Cook green beans in boiling water for one minute.
  • Drain and plunge into ice water to stop the cooking process.
  • Drain well and blot dry with paper towels
  • In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium high heat.
  • Sauté beans, bell pepper and onion for 3 – 5 minutes or until blistered.
  • Meanwhile, in a small bowl, stir together brown sugar, soy sauce and crushed red pepper.
  • Remove beans from heat and sprinkle with seasoned salt.
  • Add soy sauce mixture and stir to coat.
