On a chopping board, cut bananas lengthwise in halves.
In a skillet, over medium heat, melt the butter.
Add the bananas; cook until browned on both sides.
In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar and cinnamon.
Sprinkle over the bananas.
Stir in the sherry.
Simmer, covered, for 4 minutes or until the bananas are tender.
Remove from skillet to individual serving dishes.
Drizzle remaining sauce, in the skillet, over bananas.
Top with vanilla ice cream.
