Neely's Perfect Mashed Potatoes

Ingredients
5-pounds Russet potatoes, peeled and quartered
8 tbsp. butter
1 cup milk (see note below)
Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
Bring a pot of salted water to a boil.
Add potatoes and cook until tender but still firm; about 15 minutes; drain.
In a small saucepan, over low heat, heat butter and milk until butter is melted.
Using a potato masher or electric beater, slowly blend milk mixture into potatoes until smooth and creamy.
Season with salt and pepper, to taste.
Remove from pot and place in a serving bowl.
Notes
Slowly add the milk and butter mixture as you mash the potatoes. Continue adding until mashed potatoes have reached a firm but creamy texture.
