Carmalized Onions
Ingredients
- 3 tbsp. butter
- 2 tbsp. olive oil
- 2-½ pounds onions, thinly sliced
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 tsp. granulated sugar
Instructions
- In a large skillet, over medium-high heat, melt the butter in the olive oil.
- Add the onions; season well with salt and pepper.
- Cook, stirring occasionally, until the onions begin to soften; about 5 minutes.
- Reduce the heat to medium.
- Stir in the sugar; continue to cook; scraping the browned bits off the bottom of the pan occasionally, until the onions are golden brown; approximately 20 to 30 minutes.
