Newfoundland Never Fail Dumplings

A tried and true 90 year old dumplings recipe from Newfoundland's finest cooks.

Ingredients
  

  • ½ cup whole milk
  • 1 egg, slightly beaten
  • 1-½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1-½ tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt

Instructions
 

  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the milk and egg.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder and salt.
  • Gradually add the flour mixture to the milk and egg mixture, stirring until just combined.
  • Use a large spoon to drop spoonfuls of the dumpling mixture into the stew.
  • Cover the pot and let the dumplings cook for about 20 to 25 minutes, or until they are puffed and fully cooked.
